Our Background

It's always exciting meeting new people and making friends from events hosted on platforms like Meetup, Luma, Eventbrite and others. And so we have attended various types such as networking, condo parties, board games, bar hops, dinner groups, hiking and so on.
However as time passed, we realized there are issues with hosting events that none of these platforms help address. Primarily, that issue is attendance. A good host can do all the preparations for an awesome event, but none of that matters if only 10 out of 100 people turn up. There another issue that come after. Lets dig further into the problems...
Problems
Attendance: The main problem with events nowadays is that people aren't motivated to comply with the reservation system. People reserve their spots but nothing's pushing them to comply, or at least cancel so that others may take over. Even when events are ticketed attendees can still choose not to join.
Socialization: The next problem is something hosts have no control over. That's the personal interactions experienced by the attendees during the event. There will be times where a person or a group of people would end up feeling uncomfortable during the event because of other attendees. Of course there are multiple factors but certain types of events are more vulnerable than others. Singles mixers, speed dating, private parties and the likes.
These two components differentiates a high versus a low quality event.
How does it affect participants when events are low quality?
As a Host

-
Wasted resources - This includes time, effort and money spent during preparation of the event.
-
Reputation - Current attendees may not want to attend future events. Pictures taken with empty seats cannot be used for sharing.
As an Attendee

-
Future participation - attendees may not want to join future events from the same host.
-
Reputation - attendees tell their friends about their bad experiences.
